Somatic Coaching Intensive

Deepening the use of somatics in coaching

These 2-day seminars offer in-depth training in somatic coaching processes, practices, and distinctions. New or experienced coaches will learn specific practices for incorporating somatics into your coaching, deepening your somatic skills, and designing somatic practices and interventions for your clients. Deepening your competency in these somatic applications is valuable in personal and professional coaching as well as organizational and team development.

Somatic Observation and Assessments

This Intensive will be in two parts. Day one we will develop and/or deepen the ability to see the self in the body. We will be working with the dimensions of the self as observed in the body through the axis of length, width, and depth. We will practice interpreting what is observed to develop powerful somatic assessments. The second day, we will review the somatic standing practices including theory, setting up, and building relevant narratives for their use. Standing practices play the roles of developing awareness of existing skills; generating coordination and relationship skills like declines, boundaries, and making requests; and, a thawing or de-armoring of the old shape to allow a new shape (self) to manifest.

Deepening the Somatic Coaching Process

This Intensive will explore how to deepen the somatic coaching process and work with the material that arises. We will look at the role of de-armoring and the emotional processes that go hand in hand with the body thawing and opening. Participants will learn to distinguish trauma, learn basic interventions and assess where they are competent to work with this. We will also talk about the ongoing role of safety, boundaries and new practices as the deeper opening process occurs. Lastly, we will work with the coach’s presence and the ability to be with a wide range of emotions and sensations in themselves and their clients.
