FOUNDERS
Richard Strozzi-Heckler,
Ph.D. is co-founder and President of Strozzi Institute. A nationallyknown speaker and consultant on leadership and mastery, he has spent more than
three decades researching, developing, and teaching the practical application
of Somatics (the unity of language, action, and meaning) to business leaders and
executive managers.
Richard is the author of five books, including In Search of the Warrior Spirit, The Anatomy of Change, Holding the Center, The
Mind/Body Interface, and Aikido and the New Warrior. His articles have appeared
in Esquire, East West Journal, The Whole Earth Review, and numerous other publications.
In October 2000, a Wall Street Journal cover story featured the groundbreaking
leadership program developed by Richard for the United States Marine
Corps.
Richard has a Ph.D. in Psychology and is a sixth degree black belt
in the martial art of Aikido. He also holds ranks in Judo, Jujitsu, and Capoeira.
Richard has taught at the University of Chicago, Harvard University,
Sonoma State University, Esalen Institute, Lone Mountain College, Naropa Institute,
and the University of Munich.

Ariana Strozzi, MSC is co-founder and CEO of Strozzi Institute.
She is a national consultant
on leadership and mastery, and is a Certified
Master
Somatic Coach. Ariana works extensively with businesses and individuals
to improve communication processes, to cultivate team-building and leadership
skills, and to craft conflict resolution strategies.
Ariana has worked with
horses for more than 32 years and has won numerous championships. She
developed the Leadership & Horses and Somatic Horsemanship programs,
both offered exclusively through Strozzi Institute. These revolutionary programs
utilize the universal principles of horsemanship to promote learning, refine interrelational
skills, and deepen understanding of leadership presence. Ariana received
her BA degree in Zoology from UC Davis where she specialized in Animal Behavior
Systems and Wildlife Ecology. In 1980 she pioneered an approach to healing injured
birds of prey by using physical therapy and somatic techniques during the rehabilitation
process. The methods she developed are now standard practice in raptor centers
throughout the U.S. An accomplished writer and artist, Ariana has written articles for the North Bay Business Journal, Somatics Magazine, Yoga Journal, and Argus Courier, is the author of the newly released book Horse Sense for the Leader Within, and has created illustrations for magazines and book covers.

FACULTY
Mark Mooney is VP of Public Programs at Strozzi Institute, a certified Master Somatic Coach, and a teacher in many Strozzi Institute courses including the Leadership and Action courses in the US and the UK. He also provides individual coaching and business consulting. Mark is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, has managed several small
businesses and owned his own manufacturing business for six years. He has been studying with Dr. Richard Strozzi-Heckler for 12 years and has been a teacher at Strozzi Institute for 7 years. He holds the rank of black belt in Aikido.
During his time at Strozzi Institute, Mark has worked with numerous businesses providing them with training in developing teams including an eight month program with Westchester, New York BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) to develop their project team leaders; a four month program with MetaDesign, an international commercial graphics company that trained MetaDesign's executive team in effective communication and coordination skills. Mark worked with Boston Edison Company's management team through the process of deregulation and change of ownership; with BIA, a broadcast consulting company based near Washington, DC, who used Strozzi Institute to bring a higher level of performance and team effectiveness to their executives.

Staci Haines is a national leader in the field of the originator of Somatics and Trauma and leads courses
teaching social leaders, therapists and coaches in this work. She also teaches
for Strozzi Institute and Dr. Richard Strozzi-Heckler.
Staci is the author
of The Survivor’s Guide to Sex (Cleis, 1999), a how-to book offering
a somatic approach to recovery from sexual trauma and developing healthy
sexual and intimate relationships. A video based upon her book was released
in Summer 2003.
Staci is the Founder of Generation Five, a community leadership
organization whose mission is to end the sexual abuse of children within
five generations, which was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show in February
2003.
Staci has lectured at numerous institutions, including Oberlin College,
Smith College, UC Berkeley, CIIS and Stanford University, on issues of child
sexual abuse and social change, somatics, and trauma recovery; and has presented
at national and international conferences.
