The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Strozzi Institute launched this summer, with more than 25 SI students and alumni meeting at Strozzi Institute in July for an afternoon of learning and practices in a friendly, informal atmosphere. The theme of the first Chapter meeting was community; how can our shared practices support us in creating community? Everyone was enthusiastic about building a local Strozzi Institute Chapter as a way of supporting our learning and our work in the world. Monthly gatherings have continued to be well attended, and the community is very enthusiastic about this new opportunity to learn and practice together.
Chapter meetings are open to anyone who has completed a Strozzi Institute course. Once per quarter, the meetings will be open to friends and family who want to learn more about Strozzi Institute. Meetings include practices lead by Mark Mooney (or another senior Strozzi Institute teacher), time for Chapter members to preset their work in the group, and plenty of networking and socializing.
The creation of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter will be followed by a Washington, D.C. area Chapter. Other local communities are encouraged to develop Strozzi Institute Chapters, with coordination and direction from Strozzi Institute.
